Real change begins with a shift

Shift Happens Therapy
Get to Know Us

Hi! I'm Taylor, and I'm a licensed therapist who works with teens and adults navigating the overwhelming parts of life. Many of my clients come to me carrying anxiety, working through depression, feeling stuck in old patterns, or simply wanting a space to feel heard. If you find yourself over-thinking relationships, having trouble finding balance, or just aren't feeling like yourself lately, let's talk about it.

I started Shift Happens Therapy to offer a fresh perspective without losing the warmth and familiarity that makes therapy feel safe. Therapy with me isn't about "fixing" you; it's about shifting perspectives through a collaborative, empowering, and deeply human approach - sometimes lightened with humor to help move through even the hardest obstacles.

Let's work together to take a deeper look at your full self - your thoughts, your humor, your struggles, and your resilience - to explore what's going on beneath the surface, at your pace

Frequently Asked
Questions

Q: How do I prepare for my first appointment?

A: Please complete the initial intake paperwork that will be sent to you via the client portal. Apart from that, not much preparation is needed, although it may be helpful to make a note of some things that are bothering you, your goals, and any concerns you'd like to address.

Q: What can I expect from my first appointment?

A: The first session is usually an intake session where we'll talk about why you're seeking therapy, your background, and your goals for therapy. It's a chance for us to better get to know each other and determine if we're a good fit.

Q: I only saw Telehealth appointments available when I scheduled. Is it possible to transition to in-person now or in the future?

A: It's absolutely possible! In-person sessions are typically in higher demand, but availability is always changing.

Q: What insurance do you accept?

A: I accept most insurance including: BCBSRI, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, Optum, Neighborhood, and Medicaid. I can also provide a superbill upon request.

Q: Do you offer a sliding scale?

A: I offer a limited number of sliding scale positions and keep a waitlist when those positions are full. Please inquire further at your initial consult or intake session about availability. I typically don't require documentation - just an honest conversation about what feels sustainable for you!

Q: What if I don't feel a connection?

A: It happens! A strong therapeutic relationship is critical to the success of therapy. If we're not the right fit, I'll support you in finding another therapist who may be better suited to your needs.
